Maximilian Broich has been a lawyer at Oppenhoff since 2025. He studied law at the University of Cologne and spent a semester abroad at the Higher School of Economics in Moscow. During his academic work at the Institute for European Economic Law at the University of Cologne, he obtained a Master of Laws (LL.M.) in Business Law. Previously, he worked as a research assistant in the antitrust law department at Hengeler Mueller in Düsseldorf. During his legal training, he completed internships at the Permanent Mission of Germany to the United Nations in New York and at major international law firms in Cologne.

The Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy (BMWE), in conjunction with the Federal Ministry of Defence (BMVg), has updated the guidance note on the classification of loitering munitions and drones as weapons of war. The new version, dated 25 June 2026, replaces the previous version published on 1 December 2025. The revision is intended to address the difficulties in drawing clear distinctions that have arisen in practice.

Federal Council Suggests Clarifying Section 130 of the Administrative Offenses Act
The Federal Government has submitted a draft bill to implement Directive (EU) 2024/1203 on the protection of the environment through criminal law.
