Oppenhoff & Partner advises IPS Pressevertrieb on a further acquisition of DPV’s client portfolio

Oppenhoff & Partner has advised the largest independent national distributor of press products, IPS Pressevertrieb GmbH (Meckenheim), on the acquisition of further elements of the client portfolio of the Gruner + Jahr distribution subsidiary, Deutscher Pressevertrieb (DPV).

The portfolio encompasses popular magazines of Axel Springer with 100 publishing clients and over 500 titles. The parties agreed not to disclose the purchase price. The acquisition has yet to be approved by the German Federal Cartel Office.

With the acquisition, the IPS group is significantly expanding its national distribution business. Oppenhoff had already advised IPS on the assumption of an extensive portfolio with export contracts from DPV Worldwide in 2017, and in 2015 on the takeover of W.E. Saarbach, the largest importer of foreign press to Germany at that time, from DPV.
