Oppenhoff advises Argos Fund on its acquisition of Bäckerei Kamps

With the acquisition of Bäckerei Kamps GmbH, Argos Fund is building a leading bakery group in Germany. Oppenhoff provided Argos Fund with comprehensive legal advice on the transaction.

An Oppenhoff team, led by Dr Markus Rasner and Moritz Schmitz, comprehensively advised Argos Fund on the acquisition of Bäckerei Kamps GmbH.

Argos Fund is an independent European private equity group with offices in Amsterdam, Brussels, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Milan and Paris. Argos supports medium-sized companies in their growth. Since its foundation more than 35 years ago, it has supported more than 100 companies. Argos currently manages assets of around EUR 2 billion.

Bäckerei Kamps GmbH is one of Germany’s best-known bakery brands and has a dense network of branches, focusing on high-traffic locations. Over the past ten years, the company has been part of the French Le Duff Group and has successfully developed and consolidated its market position during this time.

Bäckerei Schmidt, in which Argos Fund has held a stake since 2024, operates around 90 outlets in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony and has grown both organically and through acquisitions. The company forms the platform for building a leading bakery group in Germany, which is now further strengthened by the integration of Kamps.

Following the acquisition of Bäckerei Schmidt in 2024 and further acquisitions in 2025, the integration of Kamps creates one of the leading bakery groups in Germany with more than 400 branches nationwide. Kamps has developed successfully in recent years and, together with the existing platform, forms the basis for further growth and a strengthening of the group’s market position.
