Oppenhoff advises EIC Fund on numerous investments

Oppenhoff has advised the EIC Fund on eight investments in German start-ups.

The EIC Fund is the special fund of the European Innovation Council and thus the investment vehicle of the European Commission. Its purpose is to implement the European Commission's EIC Accelerator Programme, which aims to support innovative and sustainable European growth companies. The EIC (European Investment Council) was established under the “Horizon 2020 - the Framework Programme for Research and Innovation” and commenced its activities in March 2021. The EIC Fund is advised by the European Investment Bank.

The investments were made as convertible loans or equity investments as part of a financing round. In 2021, with Oppenhoff’s assistance, investments were made in Advitos GmbH, Creapaper GmbH, DyeMansion GmbH, Electrochaea GmbH, Irubis GmbH, K I Lens GmbH, Keyou GmbH and Smart4 Diagnostics GmbH.

The Oppenhoff team led by Dr. Peter Etzbach included inter alia Sarah Scharf, Sebastian Gutmann, Thomas Wismann (all Corporate/M&A), Marc Krischer (Tax), Alexandra Groth (Labour Law) and Dr. Fee Mäder (IP).

Oppenhoff regularly advises companies in the venture capital environment, most recently, for example, SellerX on the acquisition of KW-Commerce, BeyondBuild on various investments in proptech start-ups, ND Group B.V. on a financing round of more than 30 million euros for e.GO Mobile and Zurich on the acquisition of the insurtech company dentolo.
