Dr. Anna-Gesine Lock

Experience

Anna-Gesine Lock specialises in the field of litigation and arbitration. She advises and represents national and international companies in civil, commercial and business law disputes. This includes both out-of-court dispute resolution and the enforcement of and defence against claims before the state courts and arbitral tribunals. 


One of her focuses is on distribution disputes – in particular the defence against compensation claims. Anna-Gesine Lock is head of Oppenhoff’s Distribution Law Initiative, which she founded in 2022. She is also retained as an arbitrator. 


A further focus of her work is on contract structuring and advice on contract implementation, in particular purchase agreements and contracts for work. An eight-month secondment to a medium-sized company in Berlin in 2019 enabled her to deepen her know-how on contract review and structuring.

 

Education

Anna-Gesine Lock has been a lawyer at Oppenhoff since 2017. She studied law at Cologne University. Her legal training included secondments to the German Federal Cartel Office in Bonn, to Oppenhoff and to the Dispute Resolution practice of CMS in Cologne. Prior to her legal training Anna-Gesine Lock worked in the Department for Civil Law, International Commercial Law, IPR, Comparative Law and Banking Law at Cologne University, assisting in particular with the Cologne Willem C. Vis Moot Court Team. In 2016 she was awarded her doctorate “Dr. iur” under Prof. Dr. Klaus Peter Berger on the topic “Agreements between parties on the qualifications of arbitrators”. At Oppenhoff she organizes the Cologne Vis Moot School together with Dr. Vanessa Pickenpack.

Anna-Gesine Lock is a member of the German Arbitration Institute (DIS), the German Initiative of Young Arbitration Practitioners (DIS40), the Cologne Bar Association (KAV), the German Society for Distribution Law (DGVR), the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany e.V. (AmCham Germany), the Young International Council for Commercial Arbitration (Young ICCA) and the International Chamber of Commerce Young Arbitration & ADR Forum (ICC YAAF).
