Dr. Alexander von Bergwelt specialises in corporate law and provides comprehensive advice on domestic and cross-border M&A transactions, joint ventures, private equity and complex corporate restructurings. Another focus of his practice is litigation in corporate law disputes.

He has many years of experience in advising on international transactions and the restructuring of companies and corporate groups. His clients include listed and internationally active corporate groups as well as medium-sized German companies across various sectors, including in particular financial institutions and companies from the media and automotive industries.

Alexander von Bergwelt is regularly recommended by leading legal directories for his work. The JUVE Handbook of Corporate Law Firms has listed him since 2014 as a frequently recommended lawyer for corporate law and M&A. The Legal 500 Germany also highlights his expertise in these areas and recommends him on the basis of outstanding client feedback. Education

Alexander von Bergwelt has been Partner at Oppenhoff since May 2026.

He studied law at Ludwig Maximilian University in Munich, where he was awarded a doctorate in law (Dr. iur.) in 1991. He completed his legal training in Munich.

Before joining Oppenhoff, he worked as a partner at an international law firm in Munich from 2016 to 2026. Prior to that, he was a partner, head of a Munich office and senior partner for Germany at another international law firm. Other stages of his career include roles at an audit firm and at a research institute specialising in intellectual property law.
