Oppenhoff advised the shareholders of AeroDesignWorks GmbH on all aspects of the sale of the company to MTU Aero Engines AG.

Led by Till Liebau and Laurenz Kiefer, Oppenhoff advised the sellers, including the founders Dr Georg Kröger and Ulrich Siller, on the structuring and execution of the transaction.

The transaction involves the complete acquisition of AeroDesignWorks GmbH by MTU Aero Engines AG. The founders will remain with the company as managing directors.

AeroDesignWorks, based in Cologne, was spun off from the German Aerospace Centre (DLR) in 2011 and has developed into a technologically leading supplier of gas turbines in the thrust range up to 400 N. The company produces turbojet engines in series and is already fulfilling major contracts in the defence sector and for civil applications.

MTU Aero Engines AG, based in Munich, is a leading global supplier of civil and military aircraft engines and, with this transaction, is expanding its portfolio in the field of unmanned aerial systems.

The Oppenhoff team consisted of Till Liebau and Laurenz Kiefer (both lead), Moritz Kaiser (all Corporate/M&A), Anja Dombrowsky and Lisa Striegler (both Employment Law), Dr Carsten Bormann and Nick Kluge (both Regulatory), and Dr Gunnar Knorr (Tax Law).
