Hans Jürgen Prinz

Lawyer

* 2 August 1936          † 19 May 2025

Hans Jürgen Prinz was a lawyer at our firm and its predecessors since 1967, as a Partner and later as Of Counsel.

He loved and lived for his work; his profession was his vocation. Uncompromising when representing his clients' interests yet open to sensible solutions, he knew how to combine elegance with excellent linguistic precision. His presence and situational grasp of the essentials made his court appearances - from the local court to the Federal Constitutional Court - almost legendary. He was a generalist and enjoyed a high reputation in press law. His representation of Heinrich Böll in the legal dispute with Matthias Walden will remain a part of German legal and contemporary history.

Above all, however, Hans Jürgen Prinz was always a loyal, warm-hearted partner for whom the firm meant more than just an organisational framework for his professional activities. His top priority was always helping others, both inside and outside the firm. His social commitment, which included decades as a member of the German Committee for UNICEF, also played an essential role in his fulfilling life.

With the loss of Hans Jürgen Prinz, we say goodbye to a person and partner whom we much admire, honour and will sorely miss.
