Franz D. Kaps has been an attorney at Oppenhoff since 2025. Previously, he worked as an associate at Baker McKenzie and DLA Piper in the areas of arbitration, dispute resolution, and compliance. Franz D. Kaps studied law at Heidelberg University and Delhi University in India. While pursuing his doctorate at Heidelberg University, he worked as a research fellow at the Max Planck Institute in Luxembourg. He completed his legal training at the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt am Main, at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, and at Gibbons P.C. in New York.
India and Singapore are a particular focus of his professional expertise. He is president of the German-Indian Lawyers Association (DIJV) and a member of the Council of the Young Singapore International Arbitration Centre (YSIAC).
Franz D. Kaps regularly publishes articles and gives lectures at conferences, particularly on arbitration and on Singapore and India. He is also a lecturer at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences for compliance and international arbitration.
