Thomas Fischl has been advising clients at the intersection of law and technology for over 20 years. His practice focuses on IT, data and media law. At the heart of his practice are technology transactions, digital transformation projects, outsourcing, cloud and IT projects, and the drafting of the associated contracts. He pays particular attention to the legal issues arising from new technologies and trends – including artificial intelligence, the cloud, the Internet of Things (IoT), FinTech, app development and the monetisation of data-driven business models.
Regulatory matters also play a key role in his practice, with a particular focus on data protection issues in all their facets. Furthermore, he advises his clients on the EU’s transformative digital regulatory package – including the Data Act, Cyber Resilience Act, AI Act, NIS-2, Digital Services Act and Digital Markets Act, as well as other related legal instruments.

Thomas Fischl has authored numerous publications on IT law and regularly gives lectures and leads workshops on a variety of topics. Thomas Fischl has been a partner and solicitor at Oppenhoff since 2026. He studied law at the Università degli Studi di Trieste and the University of Regensburg. Before joining Oppenhoff, he worked as a solicitor and partner at an international commercial law firm.
