"Working part-time whilst preparing my doctorate"
Holger Hofmann, Partner, about flexible options.
"During my very first weeks I was already integrated into large-scale real property projects, corporate legal transactions and procurement processes of the German Government from the outset. Today, a lawyer’s work in public commercial law often proves to be exciting, diverse and multidisciplinary. The daily work frequently touches up on issues from other areas of law and consequently involves regular contact and exchange with colleagues from the other practice groups.
Because of the complexity of the cases we handle, the work is very team-oriented and frequently involves firm–wide collaboration. As a young professional, I have profited from the healthy ratio of experienced commercial lawyers and younger associates.
Moreover, a particularly appealing concept of the firm is its swift introduction of young lawyers to the clients, enabling the lawyer to prepare for the independent handling of cases and - and I can speak from my own previous experience here – subsequently also put such preparation into practice. In contrast to many other commercial law firms, Oppenhoff & Partner also offers flexible work models which allow other projects, in my case the preparation of my doctorate, to be realised whilst working part-time as a lawyer. Naturally, the firm expects the usual flexibility that is required in this profession."
