Oppenhoff & Partner advises on the restructuring of the M. DuMont Schauberg Group

Press Release 2 September 2009

The publishing group M. DuMont Schauberg (MDS) has spun off its Cologne business division to a subsidiary. The spin-off, which has now taken effect, was conducted with retroactive economic effect as per 1 January 2009. In particular, MDS’s Cologne business division encompasses the newspapers “Kölner Stadt-Anzeiger”, “Kölnische Rundschau” and “Express Köln/Bonn”. In future, MDS itself will function purely as a holding company for the divisions in Cologne, Halle and Frankfurt as well as for the other holdings of the M. DuMont Schauberg Group.

An Oppenhoff & Partner team, headed by Gert Dittert, extensively advised M. DuMont Schauberg on the restructuring. Further team members were Dr. Günter Seulen, Christoph Appel, Dr. Falk Osterloh (all corporate law), Dr. Gunnar Knorr, Wolfram Vogel (both tax law), Dr. Gilbert Wurth and Peter Hützen (both labour law).
