Heinen-Verlag to hold a 35% participation in Berliner Verlag - Oppenhoff & Partner advises M. DuMont Schauberg
Press Release 24 March 2009
The Cologne publishing house Heinen-Verlag is acquiring a holding in the Berliner Verlag from the media house M. DuMont Schauberg (MDS). In January 2009 MDS acquired inter alia the "Berliner Zeitung", "Berliner Kurier" and "Hamburger Morgenpost" from the British investor Mecom. The 35% holding will be acquired at the same conditions at which the German titles of the Mecom Group were bought by MDS. Heinen-Verlag’s participation is still subject to Federal Cartel Office approval.
MDS and Heinen-Verlag have collaborated successfully for years. The "Kölnische Rundschau", whose publisher is Helmut Heinen, is also published at MDS. A team of Oppenhoff & Partner, led by Gert Dittert, advised MDS on this transaction. Additional team members were Dr. Stephan Kö-nig, Dr. Peter Etzbach, Alf Baars, Eckart Wagner and Dr. Maxim Kleine.
