Dr. Jürgen Hartung is specialised in advising clients on data protection issues and other IT law issues in all types of transactions with a focus on outsourcing, IT projects and e-commerce. His data protection practice covers a wide range of matters, e.g. internal investigations, employee surveillance, international transfers of personal data, social media, data breaches, data protection organisations, data protection audits, etc.

Furthermore, Jürgen is advising on Compliance issues, including risk analysis and the structuring of internal Compliance organisations, and heads the South-East Asia Desk of Oppenhoff & Partner.

Jürgen is recommended and cited as a leading lawyer in IT law in Who’s Who Legal (2011/2012), Expert Guide to the World’s Leading TMT Lawyers (6th edition), Juve Germany (since 2004), for his international experience in Chambers Global (2012), and voted to be one of the 25 Top Lawyers in Germany for Compliance (Wirtschaftswoche 16/2012). 
 

Career / Education

Jürgen is a partner of Oppenhoff & Partner since 2008 and practiced as lawyer since 2000 in internattional law firm Linklaters LLP. He studied law and international politics at the Universities of Tübingen (Dr. iur.) and Wales, Aberystwyth and as part of his legal training worked for Baker & McKenzie in New York in 1999/2000. Jürgen Hartung is the author of numerous articles on data protection and IT law and a frequent speaker on national and international conferences and seminars.
